From a vague draft to a reviewable grant narrative

Wellridge Group · September 7, 2026

Important: Northside Arts Workshop is fictional. This page is a demonstration, not a real client, organization, grant, award, endorsement, or achieved result.

Before · invented draft

Northside Arts Workshop will provide art classes to local children and help them build confidence. The program will serve students who need support and will have a positive impact on the community. We need funding for staff, supplies, transportation, and other expenses. We expect the program to be successful and will evaluate it through attendance and feedback.

The draft has a promising idea, but it leaves the population, schedule, amount, cost basis, and measurement method unclear.

After · revised narrative

Northside Arts Workshop proposes a free six-week visual-arts workshop in Arlington, Texas, for 24 students ages 10–14. Six Saturday sessions are planned for October 17, 24, and 31 and November 7, 14, and 21, 2026, from 10:00–11:30 a.m. Each student will receive materials, and no prior art experience is required. The six sessions are planned as a single workshop sequence rather than a set of unrelated classes. Venue and accessibility details will be confirmed before actual promotion. The hypothetical request is $3,600 toward a $4,800 project budget: teaching artist $1,800, materials $960, space $900, transportation assistance $600, and evaluation/administration $540. Planned other support is $1,200 and is not committed or secured. The planning target is for at least 18 of 24 enrolled students to attend five of six sessions. A separate target is for at least 18 students to report at least a one-point increase on a five-point creative-confidence question from the first to final session. Sign-ins and the first-to-final confidence question will be reviewed after the workshop, and missing follow-up will be reported explicitly. The narrative limits its claims to participation and the stated confidence target; these are planning targets, not results.

What changed in review

Specificity

The revision names the population, place, dates, session length, and next verification gate.

Targets

Attendance and confidence measures are explicit targets with a stated method and a limitation rule.

Budget consistency

The request, total budget, line items, and uncommitted other support reconcile without implying an award.

Unresolved inputs before a real submission

  • Confirm the controlling funder instructions, eligibility, and deadline.
  • Confirm venue, accessibility, safeguarding, and transportation details.
  • Confirm the organization’s approved program, budget, and source of other support.
  • Assign an accountable reviewer for facts, attachments, and final submission.
